ABOUT TIM
The Zen of Teaching Music
Unlike so many of his pals who also took up the guitar in their early teens, Tim Crosby was not particularly interested in rock and roll. Flatt & Scruggs or Bill Monroe? Now you’re talking! While in college, some hippie traded Tim a mandolin for a few flatpick guitar lessons and the die was cast.
Tim has been teaching private music lessons full-time for nearly twenty years; before that, part-time for more than thirty. He works with forty-some students weekly, ranging in age from 5 to 83, beginner through master-class levels.
Guitar, ukulele, mandolin, fiddle, banjo (several varieties and styles), resophonic and lap steel, and dulcimer students all show up every week or so to work with Tim.
Some students read music, some prefer tablature: it’s useful. Some students learn by ear, and that’s good, too. Tim works with all learning styles.
